Privacy Policy
Effective July 2, 2026
kalling ("we", "us") is a Korean conversation practice app operated by SOUNDGYM. You get a daily phone call from an AI tutor and talk in Korean. This policy explains what information we collect to make that work, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
- Account information. When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your email address, your name (if you share it), and an account identifier from the sign-in provider. We never see your Apple or Google password.
- Learning profile. The preferences you set in the app: your Korean level, interests, your tutor's name, your preferred call time and days, and your timezone. We use these to personalize and schedule your calls.
- Conversation transcripts. The text of your calls — what you said, what your tutor said, and the grammar corrections, explanations, and translations generated afterwards. These power your call history and review features.
- Voice audio. During a call, your voice is streamed in real time to Google's Vertex AI service to hold the conversation. We do not store recordings of your voice. Short audio clips that the app generates for pronunciation playback are synthesized from text, not recorded from you.
- Device and notification data. Your device platform (iOS or Android) and a push notification token, so we can ring you when it's time for your call.
- Usage and diagnostic data. To understand how the app is used and to fix problems, we collect in-app events (such as which screens you view and features you use) through Google Firebase Analytics, tied to an app-instance identifier, and crash reports and diagnostic details (device model, operating system version, app version, and a crash-specific installation identifier) through Google Firebase Crashlytics. This data is used only to run and improve kalling, not for advertising.
- Subscription information. If you subscribe to Premium, we receive a signed purchase record from the App Store or Google Play containing the product and expiry date. Payment itself is handled entirely by Apple or Google — we never see your card details.
How we use your information
- To provide the service: place your daily calls, hold the conversation, and generate corrections and translations.
- To personalize your tutor's conversation topics and difficulty to your profile.
- To send you call notifications at your chosen time.
- To verify and maintain your subscription status.
- To understand how the app is used and to diagnose and fix crashes and errors.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your conversations for advertising.
Services we rely on
- Google — Google Sign-In, Vertex AI (the AI that holds your conversation and generates corrections), Cloud Text-to-Speech, Firebase Cloud Messaging (Android notifications), Firebase Analytics (usage analytics) and Firebase Crashlytics (crash and diagnostic reporting), and Google Cloud Platform, where our servers and database run.
- Apple — Sign in with Apple, Apple Push Notification service (iOS notifications), and the App Store (subscriptions).
These providers process data on our behalf under their own security and privacy commitments. Because our infrastructure runs on Google Cloud, your data may be processed on servers outside your country of residence, including in the United States.
Data retention and deletion
We keep your profile and conversation history while your account is active so you can review past calls. You can delete your account at any time in Settings → Delete account. Your account is deactivated immediately and your profile and conversation history are no longer accessible. To request complete removal of your data from our systems, contact us at the address below and we will process it promptly.
Security
All traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit (TLS), and data is stored on access-controlled cloud infrastructure.
Children
kalling is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we will update this page and the effective date above, and notify you in the app where appropriate.
